The call to be a “spouse of Christ” is the core of my own vocation (which predates religious life), but I would be interested to read what you have to say on the subject.an aspiring consecrated virginhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07520407168481380210noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9531808.post-61981499921003840322008-08-16T09:58:00.000-07:002008-08-16T09:58:00.000-07:00Can I just rant, for a moment, about how hard it i...Can I just rant, for a moment, about how hard it is as "a woman with curves" to find clothing that looks good and fits well? I mean, come on, not all of us want to wear loud prints in clothing that resembles a sack. And ruffles on the behind? whoever thought *that* was a good idea for us? It comes with a jacket which I can mix and match with other things, and since it's from TravelSmith it will be great for travelling and future use. The only snag is that I ordered too big a size. I've sent it back and am hoping that the next smallest size isn't too small.

In any case, thanks for all the kinds words and suggestions!!Susan Rose, CSJPhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09801188192396918147noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9531808.post-63993441385693749132008-08-14T18:51:00.000-07:002008-08-14T18:51:00.000-07:00I wish I were close enough to offer my services as...I wish I were close enough to offer my services as a seamstress. I don't do a lot of garment sewing these days, but have in the past made my entire college wardrobe (I went to college before jeans were acceptable--or even pants) two wedding dresses, myriad of bridesmaid dresses (some of which actually looked good) and a couple of mother-of-the-bride dresses.

I look forward to meeting you someday in person, as you are coming to my part of the world.Katneyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13702911535481192870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9531808.post-51658822958354831832008-08-14T16:37:00.000-07:002008-08-14T16:37:00.000-07:00Have you tried Catherine's? They have some nice skirt/blouse combos as well as some nice dresses. I have a beautiful purple dress/blouse combo from there. Do you need help getting your dress? Please let me know if you do.

Really take time to savor the anticipation. I have a hard time looking at anticipation in a positive light and was amazed at the feelings I had before my marriage. This is it. I am giddy for you. Welcome to it.

I liked Lucille's post... To severely paraphrase and shorted a 13th C. mystic.... I have been reading your blog for a whil...Hi there! I have been reading your blog for a while now but never posted before. At least I think I never did, ha ha! But I was reading about your vows and the dress and saw there were 0 comments, and thought hmmmm...

I was in religious life a lifetime ago. Well, 19 years ago to be exact. I had made it thru postulancy, novitiate and had made temporary vows. Sometimes it amazes me to think that if I had stayed, I'd be inching ever-so-closer to a 25th jubilee. But alas, was not to be. My mind has been whirling around the idea of vocation this summer. Back in the day when I first started reading your blog, I would get wistful (and jealous) and remember my novitiate... Reading the posts about Chapter and how invigorating it was for you to be in a place with all your Sisters made me thoughtful. I felt that way too---I remember how exciting it was to meet each new Sister as time passed...and how mournful I was for every one that passed that I hadn't gotten to meet before she left this life. (Part of our 'duties' in formation was to attend the funerals as we were local and we'd help out behind the scenes...lots of funerals.)

Anyway, that was a long time ago. Now I am a mother. I have one little boy who is starting Kindergarten in a couple of weeks. (!!!!) I was married. No longer. My ex-husband and I, though, seem to have a better relationship now than we did those two years of my son's life before he left. Since he left, I embraced my faith again, got back into better contact with people I had 'lost', made some new wonderful friends who share my life and faith... Life is good. It's all good. But I do miss so many parts of convent life. I think I was made for it. Somewhere along the line, I got off track, ha ha! There was a reading at Mass a few weeks back, Jeremiah 18: 1-6 about the potter's house... I feel like I've taken a few whirls on the potter's wheel...for whatever reason, God has seen fit to reshape me a couple of times over now... What I need to do, at long last, is embrace the moment where I am today, instead of musing over the past or trying to predict the future.

That said, I wanted to tell you that you are in my prayers these days esp as you make your countdown to vows. What is the exact date of your Profession Day?

LucilleLucillenoreply@blogger.com
