Today, Jesus says to us (in today's Gospel):
Jesus said:
“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened,
and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am meek and humble of heart;
and you will find rest for yourselves.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”
Apparently, we REALLY need to hear this message because I heard it twice at daily liturgy when I was on retreat. It was the Gospel on July 1st and on July 3rd. Now the Church gives is to us again today in the lectionary!
I've still got a bit of the retreat glow ... reentry hasn't been too hard, thanks be to God. Although I did find myself thinking the other day that I need to take retreat 5 times a year! It's so easy and tempting to jump right back into the crazy busy pace of our contemporary lives and to load the burdens and worries back onto our backs. At the moment anyway, I'm still finding little ways to trust in God, be intentional and make space for quiet and space for God.
In the immediate future of course, I'm making space for fun and friendship. I'm headed down to Portland after work today for the Harry Potter fest and to catch up with some good friends. I may blog while I'm there (I'm sure at least a HP update), but I may not.
Blessings on your day. Give some thought to what this reading is calling YOU to. What burdens are you carrying that would be lighter with Jesus?

Hey Sr Susan
Always glad to find another religious fan of HP! What did you think of HP7pt2? I reviewed it on my blog but would be really interested to hear what you have to say.
Sounds like you had a really wonderful retreat.
blessings
Sr Therese
