Jesus entered a village
where a woman whose name was Martha welcomed him.
She had a sister named Mary
who sat beside the Lord at his feet listening to him speak.
Martha, burdened with much serving, came to him and said,
"Lord, do you not care
that my sister has left me by myself to do the serving?
Tell her to help me."
The Lord said to her in reply,
"Martha, Martha, you are anxious and worried about many things.
There is need of only one thing.
Mary has chosen the better part
and it will not be taken from her."
(Luke 10: 38-42)
How often do we face the “unfairs” and “why me’s” of the day and think … uh, hello, God, where are you? Here I am serving you, and yet you don’t seem to care. Why do these things happen to me? What’s the deal, God?
We’re so busy worrying and complaining that perhaps we can’t hear that still quiet voice of God, always present within us. Jesus telling us “Susan, Susan, you are anxious and worried about many things. Chill out. Seek the kingdom. Follow me. Everything will sort itself out.”
A good reminder.
(And CONGRATS Penni on your big news!!!!)

oh susan!! you are awesome!!!
i led the rosary this morning and read at Mass; just loved today's readings and when monsignor prayed for the intentions of "all the marthas in our parish, that they may continue in their corporal works of mercy," i got all happy, happy inside :)
it's really a cool day and i found out more about her this morning than i had known when i converted; i should really have chosen her as my patron saint, but better late than never!!
thanks again, you are such a sweetie.
