I was out of the office yesterday. Came in today to discover that the printer wasn't working all day and still isn't working. Did any of my coworkers try to problem solve? No, they sent print job after print job so that the queue had more than 20 jobs stuck and decided to wait till I came back to deal with it.
Which leads to the question of the day …. what are they going to do when I'm gone? (One of them admitted this to me, but I think they'll just find some other kind soul [aka poor schmuck] to become the printer problem solver.)
And the second question of the day building on yesterday's lesson from teresa of avila … am I able to seek God even in the midst of office drama and printer mishaps? I'll admit it's a stretch. But if God walks among the pots and pans, I'm guessing God also walks among broken printers and network servers. And even annoying coworkers!

Quite the contrary to where I used to work. When the copier is jammed, you'd find a crowd of folks around the machine trying to get it working. When the printer was out of toner, one or two will be resolving the issue. When we're out of paper, soon you'll find a stack of several reams nearby. When the print queue is stacked up, someone is sure to put a call in to the helpdesk (it requires a network reset). See, these mundane tasks were nice distractions from "real" work.
