weekend update

Conspiracy theories aside (see previous post), my Jesuit friend Mark asked how my weekend was.

My weekend was quite groovy, in a calming peaceful kind of way. You may or may not have guessed, but my work has been insanely busy, not calming and unpeaceful of late. So it was wonderful to whisk myself away to my groovy sister cocoon for a quite weekend of fun & fellowship. Nothing major happened at the house. I read a book. Went for a couple of walks. Made some oatmeal raisin cookies (my first real foray into using the kitchen of the house). Watched the Olympics. Joined my sister housemates for prayer. Went to mass. Awoke to a beautiful sunrise this morning. All in all, it was a little oasis from the storm. And I am rejuvenated and ready to tackle whatever faces me in the coming week.

One exciting weekend activity took place on my way home. I joined another local community of Sisters 2 hours south of Seattle 1 hour north of Portland for their area meeting with our province leadership team. The team is travelling around the province, inviting the community’s membership to join them in a discernment process. It was humbling in a way to hear these women who have done so much share how they consider themselves on a journey, and they hear the call which they answer each and every day. Put it all into perspective. Plus it was just nice to join with them for sharing, conversation, and of course lunch this afternoon before returning to my single-girl life in Portland.

Hope you all had a good weekend, and I’ll let you know if I hear anything about the amazing disappearing act of the Best Blog by a Woman category.

Peace,
Susan
