new look

You may have noticed my new header. It's from a photograph I took on my trip to El Salvador last summer. It's the last scene in a mural in the village of El Sitio that tells the story of the massacre of Copapayo and the hope and renewal of life in the rebuilding of the community.

I accidentally deleted half of my template today when I was trying to change it ... then I had the brain storm to use this picture instead. I ended up spending a bit of time recreating my past, but it was worth it to be reminded of this photograph.

It's so meaningful to me, and even more so as I continue to reflect on my call to religious life in general and to the Sisters of St Joseph of Peace in particular. During our integration and prayer experience this week, I experienced a deep affirmation of my call to work for justice and peace as a part of this community. Remembering that and looking anew at this picture, I was struck by a sense of hope embodied in one of my favorite scripture quotes:

~ "For the vision still has its time, presses on to fulfillment and will not disappoint; If it delays wait for it, it will surely come, it will not be late." (Habakkuk 2: 3) ~

Love your blog, Sister. I like the new header and I'm so glad you didn't lose the Micah quote - it's one of my favourites!

I noticed the new header yesterday and wondered about it. It is beautiful and well chosen. Last weeke we saw my son's pictures from his own El Salvador trip with a group from his parish to their sister parish there. Much of what he described reminded me of my visit to India with the Christian Brothers. The overriding impression retained from that trip (a month working in one of their facilities and visiting with other projects) was hope.
