"Quietly, she had a significant role in changing the face of health care in the United States," said Alan Yordy, president and chief mission officer of PeaceHealth, a six-hospital system based in Bellevue, Wash. Sr. Heeran, who started her medical career as a nurse at a hospital that is now part of the PeaceHealth ministry, went on to lead the system as its president.
