why my groovy sisters are groovy

Four years ago this weekend I attended my first Province Assembly. It was only my second community event - the first one being a vocation retreat - so really it was an opportunity to meet the whole community at once. We spent the day in prayerful contemplation, guided by one of the Sisters. We enjoyed fun and conversation at meals. We celebrated a beautiful liturgy, followed by a marvellous dinner. Followed by .... dancing. I'll admit, at first, I was a bit surprised, mostly because of the average age of the Sisters that were dancing. But the fun was infectious, and though I am not generally a dancer, I joined in and had fabulous time.

Today was day one of our Fall Assembly. We had a great day of input, prayer and conversation on the theme of nonviolence, led by one of our Associates. We also had a beautiful liturgy, a tasty meal, and yes, you guessed it, dancing. To Abba no less. Or, the Mama Mia soundtrack to be more accurate. Great fun! And part of the reason why my sisters are so very groovy.

Tomorrow we gather again for the business part of our gathering. Always informative, and while there is generally no dancing involved, it's usually a good day as well.

On that note, off to bed as I have an early start!
