You Are a Whiteboard

You are a dreamer, a visionary, and a straight up idea person. You are very creative.

Even if the things you think up are a bit wacky, they often are brilliant.

You are an adept problem solver. You are always tossing around dozens of ideas.

You would make a good artist, designer, or architect. You do best when work feels like play.

Work has been really busy lately, but it's also exciting and life-giving. The reason for that is probably indicated by this silly blog quiz ... I'm working on a variety of interesting and meaningful projects. Some are new, some are expanding our existing programs. But there's a lot of opportunity for dreaming and creating and trying out new ideas. Which I find exciting and life-giving.

Plus, I'm in the position of working in a ministry that helps me to do what gets me out of bed in the morning. I remember way back when I was filling out the application to become a candidate with the CSJPs. One of the questions was something like, if you could choose what ministry you would do as a CSJP, what would it be. My answer ... justice and peace advocacy. And that's what I'm doing, as a member of a great team. I feel very lucky to be able to have my work fit my passion in life.

But just because it's exciting and energizing and life-giving doesn't mean that I don't have to keep an eye on the old balance thing - as the last post illustrates. This week and probably next week have been CRAZY busy with a number of projects on the front burner. I'm totally ok with putting my all into my ministry, but I need to make sure that I'm also paying attention to the other parts of the equation - community, prayer, self care, friends, family, and fun. After all, I didn't enter religious life seeking to be a workaholic. I left my workaholic life for religious life seeking balance. Good to remember.

I'm glad your ministry is really life-giving - to you and others. It's awesome when what you do with your day is also what you are passionate about.

By the by, I did the stationery quiz and apparently I'm a red pen - which considering I'm regularly called on as an editor, is a bit scarily accurate!
