peace of God

I'm reading the letters of St. Paul for an assignment. I'm looking for how Paul's message relates to his apocalyptic vision and concerns. Reading closely for academic purposes is certainly a different experience than reading for spiritual meaning. Nevertheless, I came across a favorite passage of mine that's also the subject of many a hymn:

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:4-7)

Amen. Now back to my assignment!
