According to my site tracker, my site has received 1,004 visitors since I reset the meter less than a month ago. Crazy that people are actually reading my random thoughts.
But, since you are, I'll let you in on a little dilemma that's troubling me. …. I don't know when I'm going to have a chance to see Star Wars! Yes, I am a recovering Star Wars geek as well as a recovering bureaucrat. I can hold my own in Star Wars Trivial Pursuit. I've read most of the novels. Until I dropped it all off at my parish rummage sale, I had an assortment of toys and books and a movie poster. The last two movies I saw at 12:01 am opening night. Stood in line with friends. It was a blast. And to top off my geek status, my old roommate CoCo and I had an AWESOME Star Wars Costume party before Episode I came out that people still talk about. People went all out (regular visitor to the blog the great sandwich! was the best sand person ever and I believe won best costume).
So of course I'm going to see the movie tonight, right? Wrong.
A) My Star Wars friend CoCo moved to Montana.
B) I haven't been that excited - my mind and motivations and interest have obviously moved on to other things. I've actually been trying to reconcile my interest in promoting peace with my interest in a violent space saga.
C) I'm too busy. Church Rummage sale sorting this week. A discernment meeting with the groovy sisters Thursday night. Rummage sale all weekend. Yes I could probably squeeze it in, but I know I'll be tired.
And so I resolved to just wait until I have time and energy and see the movie next week. No big deal or anything. Ho Hum. Not a problem. Until I read the review in the Washington Post during my lunch hour. Apparently not only is this film everything the last two weren't, but it actually delves into some philosophical/spiritual questions.
Hence the dilemma which I now share with you, my apparently multiple readers.
Hmmmm.... deep thoughts have I. Solution to problem I do not know.

See it, you must. Trekkie, I am, abiding hatred Star Wars have always. two first hated. Interested this one not . . . saw I until Post Washington review too. See it, I must.
The boys and I have tickets for Thursday @ 4:30... will let you know how it goes.
Next time you need to plan ahead. My parish had our dinner auction a couple of weeks ago. Some friends and I went in together to offer a Star Wars Party as an auction item -- pizza, popcorn, and the movie. People actually bid on it! So I have to see the movie...I'm doing it for God!
i haven't seen it yet either. perhaps we should go together, just like old times. i don't think V wants to go.
and, of course you can reconcile star wars with spirituality! it's about redemption, dying and rising, no?
if fr. dick can see the spiritual side of south park, i think a little star wars won't hurt.
We saw the movie Thursday. Good, but not great.
There is a great spiritual aspect to it though - total love, detachment, putting others first. That's been the basis for religious orders for centuries, right? Selfishness and attachments lead us down the dark path....
