books to go

The rains let up this evening, and so I went for a little stroll. Which led me past my neighborhood outpost of Powell’s Books (best bookstore in the world). Which led me to stroll inside. And find not one but two books. Which I purchased. And look forward to devouring over the next few days.

The first is the latest installment in the Lemony Snicket series. I avoided the movie like the plague, but the books are a guilty pleasure of mine. Such fun.

The second is by the author of The Sparrow and Children of God … or as I like to call them, Jesuits in Space and Jesuits in Space 2. Amazing books. Hard to describe. This one is historical fiction about 14 year old Jewish girl fleeing Nazi Germany.

Now, off to reading!

Good you avoided the Lemony Snicket movie--it was TERRIBLE!

I'll be interested to hear how the Maria Doria Russell book is.
