I ran into a couple I know from church at the shoe store today. At first there was that awkward moment when you see someone out of context and try to remember how you know them. Then we exchanged greetings. The husband seemed very surprised to see me at a shoe store, to which his wife commented, "She's American just like us honey, she needs to go shopping sometimes too."Occasional musings of a Generation X Sister of St. Joseph of Peace. Read along as I live into a life of love and service as a modern day Catholic Sister (aka "nun") and continue to discern my call to "act justly, love tenderly and walk humbly with God."

That's great!
I've noticed that people who are accustomed to seeing me wearing clerics, often will not even recognize me in "plain clothes." And students are often amazed to find out: "You can go to the movies!" (If I couldn't, I reply, I'd probably go insane!)
Hope all is well with the novice!
