Memorial Donations

Just made a (small) donation to the Catholic Relief Services Tsunami Relief fund in honor of PJPII.

Three things got me thinking about that.

  1. The tribute to PJPII on the CRS web page.
  2. The constant all over the place coverage of the Pope's Death. The last time we saw that was the Tsunami. We have "forgotten" about them, but millions of people still desparately need our help.
  3. PJPII's world vision and constant reminder to us all that we are one human family.

So, seemed the appropriate thing to do. I'd encourage you to do something similar. When a loved one passes away, I always feel better if I do something in their honor.

At the same time, how often in recent years have we had occasion to reach out as brothers and sisters to help those struck by natural disaster or subjected to war and famine. We are witnessing a growing collective desire — across political, geographical or ideological boundaries — to help the less fortunate members of the human family.
