Liberation Theology

Interesting article in the Washington Post of all places on Liberation Theology - "An Abiding Faith in Liberation Theology: Since Vatican's Condemnation, Movement Veterans in Brazil Have Adapted to Times"

More secular coverage of our church as a result of recent events...

Good article. I don't know if you caught them, but a few days before Benedict was elected, NPR had stories from Mexico City and El Salvador that emphasized that Liberation Theology is alive and well there as well. I'll try to find the stories if I have time.

He he -- I posted the same article too!

What I found poignant was that at the end the Bishop who had been dressed down by the Vatican was still able to have kind words for Pope Benedict.

I can't help but think of St. Paul's words: "We are afflicted in every way, but not constrained; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down but not destroyed; always carrying about in the body the dying of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our body."

I'm but I don't have a blog; though I am incredibly happy to have found yours. Part of the problem with liberation theology is its name. I can't understand why the incorporation of the basic principles espoused on the Sermon of the Mount (and embodied int liberation theology) aren't considered mainstream Christianity, but a only subset of values open for debate!
