Just finished reading HP6 … don’t worry, won’t say a word or give away any details other than this brief commentary: There is a lot more to the story than * dangerous magic* … It is a book that tells a fantastical creative story the author is using to entertain and I think explore some deeper truths about us crazy creatures that God created. Like love, which last time I checked was kind of a key part of the message that Jesus guy was trying to drill into our heads. Ok, HP defense over now on to the “two-fer” referenced in the title.
Kat has tagged me twice … once on what’s in my wallet, once on movies. So I give you, the “two-fer meme”….
My wallet currently contains:
Drivers’ License, Library Card, Bank Debit Card, Credit Union Debit Card, Purchasing Card from Work, Business Card from my Spiritual Director, Business Card from my Doctor, Medical Insurance Card, Emergency Car Breakdown Insurance Card and Regular Car Insurance Card plus a whopping $4.82.

Number of Movies I own:
During my recent cleaning frenzy, I boxed up two file boxes of movies, one with approximately 50 DVDs that I’m going to try to sell, one with approximately 30 Videos that I plan to give to our next parish rummage sale. I decided to keep the five movies listed below as meaning a lot to me, as well as 5 exercise videos I actually use and a collection of School House Rock cartoons my friend gave me for my 30th birthday. This puts me at 11 movies which is a far cry from the 100+ I had before embarking on a path towards a simple life.
Last Movie I Purchased:
I honestly have no idea, as it’s been at least 2 years since I allowed myself to buy a movie. I do have the 3rd Harry Potter (although it’s in the box to sell) that my brother gave to me over Labor Day last year.
5 Movies that mean a lot to me:
1. A&E’s Pride & Prejudice (with Colin Firth!!)
2. Gosford Park (I can’t explain why, but this little bit of human mystery and intrigue is something I can watch again and again … which I did when my mom was sick. It quiets my mind)
3. Clue (I … am … a … s-i-n-g-i-n-g … t-e-l-e-g-r-a-m!...)
4. Empire Strikes Back (no need to explain for those in the know)
5. Anne of Green Gables (again, those that know will understand)
Hmmm…. What does that collection say about me? I’m curious to see if I can live with the pared down movie collection. The movies to sell/give away are just sitting in a box in my utility room at the moment.
Not going to tag anyone for either or both, but feel free to play if you are so inclined.
Oh yeah, and for the record … I think Sister Thomas would have enjoyed the new book!!! Wonder if being in Heaven entitles you to an adanced copy? :)

Those are excellent movie choices! Anne of Green Gables -- the Kevin Sullivan one? Brilliant! And I agree about Gosford Park, I love it (and Clive Owen!).
Btw, I found a new nun-novel for you! Or rather an old one. It's a murder mystery by Orania Papazoglou called Sanctity. Ran into it helping my mum research a paper on women in mystery novels that she's giving to her book group.
One more thing..
My mum told me about an article she read discussing the religious symbolism in HP. Remember the first book, when Voldemort drinks the Unicorns blood to become immortal? Apparently the unicorn is a classic symbol of Jesus!! Who knew? (not me, anyways. ;-) )
I just wish I could track the article down!
Clive Owen ... love him!
And whoever the guy is that plays Gilbert Blythe in A of GG.
Just because I'm thinking of taking the whole vow of celibacy thing doesn't mean I can't have my crushes!
I'll keep an eye out for the nun-novel Talmida! Thanks!!
PS - in case anyone saw the earlier version of this post, I did modify the hp commentary a bit. I was in the shower thinking about it and decided it needed a little memory modification!
Just discovered your blog. I'm enjoying the reading.
