Comfort Food

You Are Mac and Cheese

When you are stressed out, you seek safety above everything else.

And nothing is more nourishing than a big warm plate of carbs.

Taking risks takes a toll on you, and you prefer your comfort food to be old fashioned.

You're the type of person who could eat the same meal every night, especially when life is hard.

I had a feeling that this quiz would result in Mac & Cheese being the comfort food that I most resemble. Not because I'm twisty and covered in cheesy goodness, just because. That, and the fact that that's what we had for dinner tonight. And I do really like Mac & Cheese.

As regular readers know, I'm living with our community of retired Sisters these days. Eventually I plan to move to one of our smaller local communities in Seattle, but for now I feel privileged to be able to live with these fun and wise women.

One reality of living here, though, is I don't get to cook. Because we have a somewhat large community of mostly elderly people, we have a kitchen staff. There are definite plus sides to this. For example, I came home late tonight from a long day at work and a late afternoon meeting. I missed dinner, but I knew that there would be a plate saved for me in the kitchen. There are down sides as well. For one thing, while cooking is not my all time favorite activity, I do miss it a bit. Plus I really miss baking. Also, it's hard to not have any control over what's for dinner.

In a way, it's kind of like living in the dorms I suppose.

Tonight, as I said, I came home to mac & cheese. After the somewhat stressful day I had, it was indeed comfort food.

This recipe looks interesting. apparently you have to watch it like a hawk (unlike most crock pot recipes), and some people were trying to substitute yellow mustard for dry mustard. (Vinegar curdles milk.) Think I'd use some other cheese besides cheddar, though. (gets grainy.)
